Obituary for Arthur Harold Bistram
Arthur Harold Bistram, age 84, a resident of Grantsburg, WI passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Abbot Northwestern Hospital.
Arthur was born on August 30, 1937 to William and Ione Bistram at his grandparents’ home in Ekdall, north of Grantsburg. After he graduated from high school, he served in the Army for 2 years and then the Reserves for 6 years.
He married Pauline Larson while in the service, stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash. To this union 3 sons were born.
After the service he worked as a machinist and meat cutter, he also served on the town board for West Marshland for 42 years.
Arthur enjoyed raccoon hunting with friends from Pine City, deer hunting, fishing, trapping, reading western books, listening to classic country music and going for motorcycle rides.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Beatrice and Eleanore; and brother, Ken.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Pauline; sons, Douglas (Corinne), Donald (Cindy), James (Sue); brothers, Jerry (Ann), Merlin; grandson, Chris; step grandchildren, David and Jennie; along with many other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 2:00 PM (visitation from 1:00 - 2:00 PM) at the Central United Methodist Church in Grantsburg.
