Obituary for Florence Matilda Brewster (Clark)

Florence Matilda Brewster, age 98, a resident of Frederic, WI, passed away on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at the Frederic Nursing and Rehabilitation of Frederic.

Florence was born on December 8, 1923 in a farmhouse in Webster, WI to parents Lewis and Erna (Rissman) Clark.

 Florence lived a long and wonderful life with incredible friends and family. She was raised in Webster on the homestead that her father and mother established. She went to school and graduated from Webster High School.  She later moved to Minneapolis and lived with her brother Robert.  In World War 2 she worked in a factory and meet her future husband James heading off to war. They later married in Fort Snelling. After the war they move south to Knoxville TN.  They lived on lake Knoxville and had many country friends. They adopted a son Bob during that time. Later they moved to Siren, WI on little Clam Lake. They adopted their daughter Ann during that time. She lived on Little Clam Lake till her husband passed away and then moved into town.  Later in life she met Harley Jenson and they fell in love and got married. They moved to an island in Lake of the Woods. They would winter in Why, Az. Eventually she moved back to Webster then Siren. Three years ago, Florence fell and broke her hip and has been in the nursing home up until her death. 

She was a lifetime member of the America legion, Eastern Star, and Webster Sportsman club. 

Florence is preceded in death by parents; first husband, James Brewster; second husband, Harley Jensen; son, Robert Brewster; daughter in law, Janet Brewster; and brothers, Robert and Roy Clark.

She is survived by her daughter, Ann (Scott) Smith; grandchildren, Brett (Samantha) Ophus, Shane (Angel) Ophus, James (Alicia) Ophus, Jill and John Tinman, Rachael Bearheart, James and Sarah Brewster; many great grandchildren; and other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 at 3:00 PM (visitation 2-3 PM) at Bethany Lutheran Church in Siren.
