Obituary for Meredith Morris Beckmark
Meredith Morris Beckmark, age 74, a resident of Grantsburg, WI passed away on November 4, 2022 at Burnett Medical Center.
Meredith was born August 19, 1948, at the Frederic Hospital, Frederic Wisconsin to parents Morris and Alrose (Anderson) Beckmark. Meredith was baptized as an infant and in 1962 confirmed in the Trade Lake Zion Lutheran Church. He attended the Trade Lake grade school where he formed lifelong friendships with the other students. He attended and graduated from Frederic High School in 1968.
Meredith was a hard-working jack-of-all trades and self-taught heavy equipment operator. He spent several years working as a machinist and went on to work as a truck driver, construction worker, and logger. Eventually he combined those skills and ran his own sawmill north of Spirit Lake.
In 1985, Meredith met Peg Johnson and fell in love with her and her two daughters Angie and Sarah. Together they became a family, with Meredith raising the girls as his own.
Meredith was happiest working and playing in the outdoors of Wisconsin during all the seasons. He loved canoeing, fishing, and deer hunting. He and his fishing buddies enjoyed traveling to Devil’s Lake, North Dakota, to bring home fresh fish. He often would catch a mess of fish, clean them, and invite friends and family over for fish fry—which he cooked himself.
Meredith filled his life with many friends and helped many folks along the way. He was the type of guy that would drop everything to help a friend.
Meredith will be deeply mourned by his partner, Peg, the girls, Angie Johnson and Sarah (Guy) McCarty and his many friends and neighbors.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 1:00 PM at South Fork Sportsman Club (3537 78th Street, Frederic, WI).
