Vincent Joseph Menke, age 94, a resident of Superior, WI, passed away on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Essentia Health Hospital in Superior.
Vincent was born on January 20, 1928 at home in Wilmont, MN to parents Leo and Clara (Brake) Menke. He was baptized on January 22, at St. Kilian Church in Wilmont, MN.
He attended St. Kilian school until 8th grade. Vincent enlisted in the Navy on April 12, 1946 and was honorably discharged on February 9, 1948. After Vincent was discharged, he worked as a machinist for most of his life. He received his G.E.D. from Adrian, Mn 1970.
Vincent lived in Denver, Colorado from 1960 to 1967 then moved to Minneapolis, MN until 1990. He resided in Voyager Village, WI for 41 years until they decided to move up to Superior, WI.
Vincent married his first wife Una Lorraine DeGriselles (Corrigan) on June 11, 1960. Lorraine passed away on February 23, 1998 at home, in Jackson township, Wisconsin. He later married Sharon Hembrook (McNeil) on August 5, 2000.
Vincent belonged to the VFW Post #7256 in Siren, WI, American Legion of Webb Lake, WI, Lions Club of Webster, WI, for 21 years with perfect attendance, Knights of Columbus Post #8985 of Webster, WI, 4th degree K of C of Cumberland, WI. He was also a lifelong member of the Sacred Heart Parish (Catholic) Church. Throughout Vincents life he has donated over 16 gallons of blood to the Red Cross.
In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, snowmobiling and spending time with his family and friends.
Vincent is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Una; brothers, Marvin and Leo; sisters, Florence and Ethelrita.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon; stepchildren, Janet Moe and Cathy Sikorski; grandchildren, Riley, Paige and Brady; siblings, Eileen (Scott), Alphonse Menke, Aloys Menke; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11:00 AM (visitation from 10:00 – 11:00 AM) at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Francis officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Sacred Heart Cemetery.
